Green Charter
PE’s Green Charter is to continuously improve the Company’s environmental performance including the prevention of pollution and the reduction in fuel and energy usage. The policy is also to assist, where possible, our suppliers and customers to improve their environmental performance. For PE this includes meeting and where possible exceeding applicable environmental legislation and other requirements such as those of our Customers, Suppliers and other Stakeholders.
To implement this policy PE is committed to the following:
- To assign responsibility for environmental policy
- The Managing Director is responsible for setting the Company’s environmental policy and objectives
- The Executive Team are responsible for cascading the implementation of the policy down through their own organisation and ensuring the policy is followed and agreed objectives are met
- All employees are responsible for ensuring high standards of environmental care.
- To comply with relevant legislation and regulations and to implement and operate a formal environmental management system with the aspiration of obtaining ISO14001 certification for the Company by April 2008
- To set and monitor environmental objectives and targets as follows:
- Monitor fuel and energy usage.
- Emission to atmosphere and water
- Reduction in the use of toxic chemicals
- Reduction in water consumption
- To carry out appropriate risk assessments to reduce the potential risk of a environmental incident in the field
- To design our products and processes with consideration of the product life cycle from raw material acquisition to end of life with the objective of reducing environmental impacts while maintaining or improving its functionality.
- To liaise with our suppliers and customers to promote best environmental practice in the selection, use and distribution of products and materials, which pass through our Company
- To comply with relevant legislation and regulations
- To invest in the development of technology which will help us to reduce fuel and energy use.
- To ensure our policy is effectively and openly communicated to our stake holders both within and outside the company
- To provide where applicable training for employees on environmental issues
- To report on a regular basis, and at least annually, our progress against specific objectives and targets
- To review our Environmental Policy at regular intervals and as part of our annual strategic planning exercise.
